RUMOR: David Leitch Returning to Helm a Deadpool 3
New rumors and reports suggest that David Leitch could be returning for the upcoming Deadpool 3.
Reports indicate that Leitch could be attached for the upcoming sequel. Leitch is currently preparing for his next film, The Fast and the Furious spin-off Hobbes and Shaw. Production on that movie is set to last from September to December. While Leitch has also been attached to an adaptation of the videogame The Division, he’s also expressed interest in returning to Deadpool.
Speaking to Den of Geek on the subject, Leitch said “No, I’m not necessarily one and done. I would love to work with Ryan and Rhett and Paul and Simon again. We just had a really good time and I love this world, and I love this universe, and I love the character that he’s made so endearing to the fans, and so I would be grateful to work on something again. It just depends on time and place, so we’ll see what happens.”

Reynolds has been pushing for an X-Force movie before another Deadpool film, but priorities have shifted in recent months. The proposed film about the team is set to be helmed by Drew Goddard (Hotel Artemis), but filming on his next film Bad Times at the El Royale have complicated that.
Rumors about the future direction of Deadpool have been increasing ever since the announcement that the Disney purchase of Fox was going through. Disney CEO Bob Iger has mentioned Deadpool specifically going forward with the unified Marvel universe. Iger said “There may be an opportunity for an R-rated Marvel brand as long as we let audiences know what’s coming.”
