FX’s Y: The Last Man Pilot Adds Timothy Hutton
The cast of Y: The Last Man has just added another Academy Award winner to the pilot.
Timothy Hutton has signed on appear in FX’s adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s acclaimed Vertigo comic book series. Hutton will reportedly play the President of the United States as the mysterious apocalyptic event wiping out virtually all individuals with a Y chromosome sweeps across the planet.

Hutton joins Barry Keoghan, Diane Lane, Lashana Lynch, Juliana Canfield, and Marin Ireland. Amber Tamblyn is expected to play the President’s daughter in the pilot.
Following the adventures of Yorick Brown (Keoghan), Y: The Last Man follows Yorick along with his trusty Capuchin monkey Ampersand as the last surviving males on Earth. The duo traverses the United States to reunite with Yorick’s girlfriend as the rest of the world plunges into chaos with the sudden loss of its male population.

Based on the Vertigo comic book series of the same name by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, Y: The Last Man is developed for television by Michael Green and Aïda Mashaka Croal who also serve as showrunners and will executive produce along with Vaughan. The pilot episode is directed by Melina Matsoukas and is expected to air on FX.
