Zombieland 2 Now Has An Official Release Date
Sony has set a release date for Zombieland 2 in October 2019, confirming rumors that the sequel will release around the 10-year anniversary of the release of the first film.
According to Exhibitor Relations, Zombieland 2 has been slated to hit theaters on October 11, 2019, a little over 10 years from the release of the original Zombieland which hit theaters on October 2, 2009. The original cast comprised of Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin are all slated to return for the sequel, along with director Ruben Fleischer and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Production is expected to start in January 2019.

Wernick and Reese have remained steadfast in their desire to make a Zombieland 2, despite the developmental difficulties that have accompanied the project. The writing duo, who’ve made a name for themselves recently with the Deadpool films, announced they were hard at work on the script for Zombieland 2 in August 2016, and reassured fans just two months ago that the film was still in the works, but later swatted down rumors that it already been shot in secret.
The original Zombieland went on to gross more than $103 million worldwide against a budget of just under $24 million. Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Zombieland 2 will star Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin and Woody Harrelson. The film will hit theaters on October 11, 2019.
