You Can Now Play The Entire Assassin's Creed Franchise On The Xbox One

Adding an entire library of a game's franchise to a specific platform is no small undertaking, especially when those games span multiple generations. However, no task seems to be too tall for the technicians and engineers at the Xbox division, who seem adamant in making sure that every single Assassin's Creed game runs ripe and ready on the Xbox One from start to finish. What am I talking about? I'm talking about the fact that Microsoft has now made it possible to play every single Assassin's Creed game from the seventh gen all the way up to the eighth gen on the Xbox One.
The news was made available via a tweet by Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb. He informed the Xbox gaming community that you can now play Assassin's Creed Liberation HD on the Xbox One thanks to backwards compatibility. This was the last title released for consoles that wasn't already backwards compatible or re-released for the Xbox One.
Assassin's Creed: Liberation was originally released on the PlayStation Vita back in 2012. It was a spin-off based on Assassin's Creed III, which also released in 2012. However, the PlayStation Vita never really gained the kind of buyer's market momentum that Sony would have liked, and as a result there were a lot of games that underperformed being exclusive on the Vita. Assassin's Creed: Liberation was one of those games, which is why Ubisoft later re-released the game two years later in 2014 for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. However, the game was never remastered or re-released for the Xbox One... until now.
Given that Microsoft has put a dedicated team together to make sure as many Xbox 360 titles as possible are made backwards compatible, it was just a matter of time before Assassin's Creed: Liberation made the cut.
Gamers who already own a copy of the game as a digital download on their Xbox Live profile can easily import the game right now to their Xbox One library.
Much like other Assassin's Creed games it features a member of the Assassin's Order, also known as the Brotherhood, and players take on the role of Aveline de Grandpre, and it's set in the Louisiana bayou. It's not quite as advanced as Assassin's Creed III or Assassin's Creed IV from a gameplay perspective despite running on the same engine, it lacks some of the naval elements and world size, but that was due to it being on the PS Vita.
Nevertheless, if you missed out on the game back when it came out for the Xbox 360, you can check it out on the Xbox One as a backwards compatible title, along with every other previously released Assassin's Creed title.
Joining the open-world Ubisoft game on the backwards compatible list is another Ubisoft game, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, not to be confused with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare from Activision. The game was actually the first of the Ghost Recon games to make its debut on the Xbox 360, and if you missed out on it back in 2006, you can check it out 12 years later on the Xbox One.
