This Is Us' Mandy Moore Talks How Great And Ambitious Season 3 Is
7 minutes ago
This Is Us fans are already pumped to see the Pearson family return for Season 3 this fall, and Mandy Moore just chucked some coal into the engine to keep the hype train rolling right along. The Rebecca Pearson portrayer said this season is going to be the top-rated drama's greatest and most ambitious one yet, and while few would've expected her to say anything less, she added some clues about upcoming episodes that helped prove her claims:
I just spent time in the writers' room with Dan [Fogelman, show creator] and all of our incredible writers. What they have in store for Season 3 and the next couple seasons is pretty remarkable. We've shown people what this show can be and all of the different multitude of directions we can go in. . . . I would say buckle up. There is going to be some great stuff unfolding in Season 3. I am really, really excited for everyone --- for Beth, for Toby, like their own stories, learning more about everybody, getting a fuller picture of who Jack and Rebecca were when they first started dating, who Jack was during the Vietnam War. It's going to be good. I feel like it's our most ambitious --- but it's going to be the best season yet.
Mandy Moore really let loose when giving fans a taste of what to expect for This Is Us Season 3. Moore skated right past any future timeline talk and dropped the info-bomb that Toby and Beth will each be getting their own story in the upcoming season. Many might have assumed as much for Toby, considering one of the major cliffhangers of Season 2 showed him huddled up in bed a year after marrying Kate, but regardless, viewers have wanted more focus on Beth and Toby's personal lives for a while now. Beth's potential Season 3 story is definitely more of a mystery than Toby's, aside from the fact that actress Susan Kelechi Watson already told fans she's not dying in the upcoming season.
Moore also revealed to TVGuide that This Is Us Season 3 will include a look at Jack and Rebecca's life before they got together, which is some welcome new news regarding Rebecca's storyline. Past reports had already confirmed the show would spend time with Jack in Vietnam, but it wasn't always so clear that he might have been a completely different person than the Jack that fans know and love. Will This Is Us show us a darker side of Jack Pearson?
Mandy Moore's recent interview certainly gave viewers a good idea of what to expect from Rebecca this season. Prior to this, fans had mostly only been clued in on her and Miguel's relationship getting expanded. Season 2 was somewhat light on Rebecca-specific storylines, so hopefully, Season 3 makes up for it a bit with some more plotlines that work Many Moore into the story a bit more. That said, if Rebecca ends up being the "her" that Tess and Randall were referring to in the finale, that just might break the audience for good. So maybe we shouldn't wish This Is Us will give Moore too much more screentime.
This Is Us returns to NBC this fall Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. ET. Anyone wondering what else NBC has planned for its fall season can find out right here. Those looking for television shows to watch in the meantime should visit our summer premiere guide.
