Sydney Sweeney Says She Was "Intimidated" To Join 'Handmaid’s Tale' Cast
Sweeney also touched on listening to Taylor Swift on set to lighten the mood and becoming "good friends" with co-star Max Minghella.
For actress Sydney Sweeney, landing the role of Eden Spencer, Nick Blaine’s new wife in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, was an "intimidating" experience.
“It was very intimidating. I felt like I had a lot I needed to live up to be able to carry Eden and meet those incredible actors,” she told The Hollywood Reporter In Studio about joining the show. While she says it was her audition that got her to start watching the show, she was hooked from the first episode.
“I was like, ‘I’ll watch the first episode to kind of get a feeling for the show,’ and I ended up watching the entire season that night because I couldn’t stop. And then I ran out of my room, went to my mom’s room and I was like, ‘You have to watch this show,’ and we watched it all over again.”
Sweeney also spoke about working with Max Minghella, who plays Nick, and how they try to keep things lighthearted on set amid the heavy subject matter of the show.
“Max is so great to work with because we became such good friends that it was hanging out on set and goofing off and listening to Taylor Swift,” she said. “It’s good to have something to take you out. And the crew are all nice and fun, so you never get stuck in it.”
