Star Wars: Episode IX’s Domhnall Gleeson Calls Abram’s Return ‘Epic’
At the premiere of his new gothic horror film, The Little Stranger, Domhnall Gleeson revealed that he had started filming on the still-untitled Star Wars: Episode IX.
The film marks the return of director J.J. Abrams to the Star Wars universe after the filmmaker directed Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first film in the current Star Wars trilogy that started in 2015. Gleeson told Variety that the return of Abrams to the property will be “epic.”

It makes sense Gleeson feels that Abrams’ return is epic, as last year, Gleeson told Collider he was excited when he found out that Abrams was returning:
“[I found out] like two seconds before, but nothing’s revealed about which, if any of us, are in Episode IX or not. I think it’s really cool that he’s doing it, and I’m interested to see how he approaches it because he’s a superb filmmaker. And it’s closing out—they’re doing it in trilogies aren’t they?… See that’s really cool, J.J. will do a fantastic job.”
Star Wars: Episode IX is set to be released on December 20, 2019.
