Spawn: Walking Dead’s Greg Nicotero Creating Undead Hero’s New Design
Todd McFarlane’s Spawn reboot has just enlisted acclaimed make-up effects supervisor Greg Nicotero to redesign the eponymous superhero for the upcoming film.
Nicotero, who also serves as an executive producer, director, and make-up supervisor on AMC’s The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, has officially signed on to the Blumhouse production along with his award-winning make-up effects studio The KNB EFX Group.

“I’m a long-time fan of Greg’s work and the projects his company, KNB has done throughout the years,” explained McFarlane in an official statement. “Working with him once again, to re-invent the Spawn ‘look’ so it will match the supernatural theme in the movie, is going to be a fun process.”
Nicotero began his prolific career in the entertainment industry working as a make-up artist for George A. Romero’s 1985 horror classic Day of the Dead under mentor Tom Savini. Since then, Nicotero has expanded his career to include producing and directing while continuing to serve as a make-up effects supervisor on high-profile projects including 2016’s Suicide Squad. In 2005, he co-founded the make-up effects studio The KNB EFX Group with Howard Berger and Robert Kurtzman which has gone on to win numerous awards including the Academy Award for Best Make-Up in 2006 for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.

With Nicotero joining the Image Comics adaptation along with Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx and Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner, the upcoming film definitely has some serious talent behind the production.
The upcoming Spawn reboot marks creator Todd McFarlane’s directorial debut and stars Jamie Foxx as the title character with Jeremy Renner appearing as Twitch Williams. The film does not currently have an announced release date but is expected to begin principal photography soon.
