Slender Man: Once You See the New Trailer, You Can’t Unsee It
Audiences should prepare to have the living daylights scared out of them with the second trailer for Sony’s Slender Man.
Based on the terrifying internet meme about a thin figure who haunts nightmares around the world, Slender Man adapts the urban myth into a big Hollywood horror.
The first look at the movie made its way online in January, but it’s this full-length trailer that promises to get under the skin and stay there. Similar to the teaser, Slender Man has a vibe of The Ring crossed with The Blair Witch Project.
Starring Joey King, Julia Goldani-Telles, Jaz Sinclair, Annalise Basso and Javier Botet, Slender Man takes place in a sleepy Massachusetts town as a group of friends attempts to debunk the tall man in the black suit. When the Slender Man ritual goes wrong, the girls begin to fear their missing friend may have become a real-life victim of this fictional bogeyman.
The story of Slender Man has made the rounds since 2009, and even inspired a high-profile crime in Wisconsin, where two girls stabbed another 19 times. Although there have been several Slender Man documentaries, this is the first time the story has been adapted for a mainstream audience.
Coming a long way from I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, French director Sylvain White is finally giving the Creepypasta horror its big screen debut. Hide behind the cushions when Slender Man hits theaters on Aug. 10
