Shazam’s Zachary Levi Hopes To Join Justice League
Although there’s some doubt about whether a follow-up to 2017’s Justice League will happen, Zachary Levi — who will play the titular character in David F. Sandberg’s upcoming Shazam! film — hopes Shazam himself might some day join the team, which is a possibility given the character’s history in the comics.
In an interview with ET, Levi stated that he was “one hundred percent” looking forward to the possibility of joining the Justice League, which he was excited for before even landing his role as Shazam. “I’m looking at these posters going, ‘If this all goes well, and I get this job, and we go make this movie, and it does well, and this does well then I’ll be, theoretically, I’ll be on that next billboard with all those characters,'” Levi revealed. “So I haven’t just been thinking about it since I’ve been the character, I’ve been thinking about well before I got the job!”

In the comics, Shazam (originally called Captain Marvel) joined a new version of the Justice League during the Legends crossover event. During the New 52 reboot, writer Geoff Johns brought the character back to the team and had him strike up a friendship with Cyborg. If the Shazam! movie does well, and if more Justice League movies enter production, it would be interesting to see how Billy Batson interacts with the rest of the team, especially when the group learns one of the world’s most powerful heroes is only fourteen years old!
While the cinematic debut of the World’s Mightiest Mortal is still seven months away, the first Shazam trailer showcased a more lighthearted entry in the DC Extended Universe, showing what would happen if a young boy was given supernatural powers.
