September's Games With Gold Brings More LEGO Games
10 minutes ago
It's that time of the month again where gamers looking to get their hands on free games with their Xbox Live Gold subscription are informed about what they can expect to play throughout September. Microsoft is continuing to offer both the Games With Gold and the Xbox Game Pass as part of its ever-growing digital distribution service for the Xbox brand of gaming consoles. The latest Games With Gold offerings for September, 2018 for Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X owners includes a handful of noteworthy games, including additional LEGO titles for those of you who love adventuring with family and friends while building and exploring.
The Games With Gold for September were rolled out over on Major Nelson's website. The four games for September include:
Prison Architect for Xbox One between September 1st and September 30th
Livelock for the Xbox One between September 16th and October 15th
LEGO Star Wars III for the Xbox 360 between September 1st and September 15th
Sega Vintage Collection: Monster World for the Xbox 360 between September 1st and September 30th.
The four games give you a little bit of something different each time around. Prison Architect, for instance, is all about building out a functional prison. How the prison runs is entirely up to you, as the game is about using the money you start with to either privatize a workers prison, or go for a more locked down, hardcore prison for only the most hardened of criminals.
The highlight of Prison Architect is that your prison will be rated based on how you treat your prisoners, how you maintain the functionality of your prison, and whether or not it's profitable. You'll need to manage a fine balance between being harsh and being a correctional institute.
If you're not into maintaining strategy and thinking into your gaming session but would rather focus on action and hardcore combat, you might be pleased to see Livelock make the cut, which is a top-down cooperative shooter for up to three players. It's rare we get three player games these days but that's the gist of Livelock. The box art for the game looks like a mixture of Warframe and Destiny 2. Not a bad combo.
The twin-stick shooter is a hardcore romp through a futuristic world featuring a story mode, lots of weapons, and tons of mechanized explosions.
Both Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners can also enjoy LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, which combines a lot of the action and adventure from Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones with the traditional LEGO building and adventuring fanfare.
As many of you know, if you own an Xbox One you automatically gain access to Xbox 360 games via backwards compatibility. If you own the original LEGO Star Wars III game disc you can plop it in and install it to your Xbox One's hard drive. Alternatively, if you have the game via an Xbox Live digital purchase from when it was available on the Xbox 360, you can easily import it by downloading it from your Xbox Live profile.
And, last but not least, is the Sega Vintage Collection: Monster World, which features a series of side-scrolling 16-bit style action-platforming titles. This is available both for the Xbox 360 and as a backwards compatible collection for the Xbox One.
