Rumor: Birds of Prey Eyeing Andi Mack Star for Cassandra Cain

The rumors continue to swirl around casting for the upcoming Birds of Prey film, with the latest speculation revolving around Cassandra Cain.

Two sources are suggesting Andi Mack star Peyton Elizabeth Lee is being considered for the role of Cain, who is going to be quite young in the film, possibly as young as 11 years old. Earlier today, The GWW hinted that the actress may be in consideration for the role, with the site’s Editor-in-Chief KC Walsh sharing the same rumor on Twitter. Both stress this is strictly a rumor, so nothing is official just yet.

Lee’s starring role on Andi Mack is her biggest credit to date, and could certainly boost her chances among other contenders for the role of Cassandra Cain. She would not be the only actor to join the DC Universe after starring on Andi Mack: co-star Asher Angel made a name for himself on the show before being cast as Billy Batson in Shazam!.

With Lee currently being 14 years old, she would certainly qualify, at least in the age range, from a casting director’s perspective for the role. While there have been other names linked to potential roles in Birds of Prey, Lee is the first to be mentioned for Cassandra Cain so far, though there are sure to be other contenders for the part.

As previously reported, a rumor about the plot of the film hints at Cassandra playing a major role, with her being the reason the titular female superheroes come together. Thus far, the only confirmed actor tied to the film is Margot Robbie, who will be reprising her role as Harley Quinn, but she will be working alongside a number of DC mainstays including Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya.

Birds of Prey is set to begin filming in early 2019, with a release date to be determined.
