Paris And Prince Jackson Open Up About Their Father On Michael's 60th Birthday

Yesterday, Michael Jackson would've celebrated his 60th birthday. The late King of Pop passed away a little over nine years ago on June 25th, 2009 at the young age of 50, and he is still fondly remembered today, especially by his children, Prince and Paris Jackson. On their belated father's birthday, they revisited the life and legacy that he left behind, and recounted his impact on the music industry and the entertainment industry at large. Plus, they revealed how it feels to celebrate his birthday on what would've been a milestone for the late singer-songwriter/performer. Here's what Prince Jackson said.
Being here today is definitely an awe-inspiring feeling, because our father was the King of Pop and he did so much. He did so much for the music industry, but I think he put emphasis and importance on the charitable contributions to humanity that he really used his platform to [support].
Entertainment Tonight caught up with Paris Jackson and Prince Jackson when they attended The Michael Jackson Dance Celebration, which was held in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay resort. During the evening, the late Jackson was awarded with the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation Legacy Award for Humanitarian Service in 2018. Prince and Paris accepted the posthumous honor on their dad's behalf. When it comes to their father's death and how they come to process his absence, Paris Jackson admits that both she and Prince Jackson have their own ways of grieving. Above all else, however, Paris credits her older brother for helping her and her family come together as best they can in light of MJ's untimely death.
We honor him in our own way, and I don't really expect anyone else to understand besides this dude right here. I'm just happy to be with him.
In addition to Paris Jackson and Prince Jackson, The Michael Jackson Diamond Celebration featured appearances from other celebrities, which included Gabrielle Union, Usher, Mark Ronson, Vanessa Hudgens, Tito and Jackie Jackson, Evan Ross and Ashlee Simpson, to name a handful of people in attendance. Additionally, the evening featured a special performance from Cirque du Soleil and their Michael Jackson-inspired show One.
This is not the only celebration for Michael Jackson in recent months. Most notably, on Drake's newest studio album, Scorpion, featured a previously unfinished and unreleased song from the late King of Pop, which Drake turned into the single "Don't Matter to Me" on the new album's B-side. But that is not the only piece of news to come from Michael Jackson of late. Most recently, The Eagles topped MJ in the all-time charts, as their album Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 has recently topped Jackson's iconic Thriller. Additionally, Sony Music may or may not have admitted to releasing fake posthumous songs on the 2010 album Michael.
