Game of Thrones is one of the most popular shows in TV history, although it will soon come to an end. GoT is currently filming its eighth and final season on HBO, and the showrunners are tasked with ending George R.R. Martin's epic story in a satisfying way. The stakes have never been higher, especially after Season 7 broke the rule and combined the large ensemble cast in new and exciting ways. While the final season's contents have been kept under wraps, a new report indicates that a major set piece may be getting destroyed: The Great Hall of King's Landing.

Because Game of Thrones is so massively popular, there are always fans, paparazzi, and even drones surrounding the show's set. As such, some early glimpses have reportedly been caught, including a flaming and destroyed Great Hall. While this could mean a number of things, the tease of seeing King's Landing aflame is enough to get most Game fans drooling with excitement.

Reports of the Great Hall's forthcoming destruction come from Express, which has scoured reports and social media for an indication of what's coming in Game of Thrones Season 8. While far from a confirmation from HBO, the new rumor could mean quite a few things narratively.

Perhaps the most logical assumption is that Dany's vision from the House of Undying comes true, and she burns the Great Hall (and possibly all of King's Landing) to the ground during her conquest of Westeros. Back in Season 2, Dany goes into the House of Undying to find and rescue her baby dragons. During it, she has a vision quest where she speaks with Khal Drogo, meets her unborn child, and also visits The Great Hall.

But unlike the shiny and grand room that we saw Robert and Joffrey Baratheon sit on, it's in a poor state. The ceiling has been blown clean off, debris is everywhere, and it's even snowing ash. This seemed like a clear indication of things to come, with Dany's Dragons easily being able to destroy the capital if she so chose. Tyrion advised Dany to conquer Westeros with a more diplomatic approach, but desperate times may call for desperate measures.

It's also possible that Dany doesn't burn down King's Landing, but simply has another vision. This would allow Jason Momoa's Khal Drogo to return once more (as rumored), while also surprising the audience by not having Khaleesi going on a burning spree with her two dragons. We'll just have to wait and see.

It's currently unclear when Game of Thrones will return for its eighth and final season, but be sure to check back with CinemaBlend.
