John Krasinski Will Write A Quiet Place Sequel

John Krasinski Will Write A Quiet Place Sequel

After initially declining to return to write or direct the sequel to this year’s critically acclaimed horror film A Quiet Place, filmmaker John Krasinski confirmed he is indeed returning to pen the screenplay while explaining what brought him back to cinematic property.

While at a Q & A at the Silver Screen Theatre in Los Angeles, Krasinski explained he initially turned down offers from the studio to sign on for a sequel because he had intended the first film to be a special project between him and his wife and co-star Emily Blunt and preserve that experience rather than revisit it.

“Then I had this small idea for a sequel, but I didn’t think it would go anywhere. So, I said to the studio, ‘Just go do the movie with somebody else,'” revealed Krasinski during the Q & A. “They heard some pitches, and I told [producer] Drew [Form] about this little idea. And he told me to think about it a little longer. And then I thought, ‘This might really work.’ So, I’m currently writing the sequel.”

Immediately upon its wide release this past April, the horror film earned universal acclaim and went on to earn $334.5 million on a reported production budget of $21 million. Krasinski turned down offers from Paramount to return to the franchise but eventually changed his mind and signed on to write the screenplay in August. While there is currently no director officially attached to the project, Krasinski is expected to return to helm the upcoming film.
