James Gunn’s Firing Could Affect Avengers 4, Too
Star Dave Bautista contends delay in production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 following the firing of director James Gunn could even have an affect on Avengers 4.
“It’s on permanent hold for now,” Bautista told DigitalSpy, referring to the third Guardians film, “and that may make a difference in what they do with our characters in Avengers 4. To be honest with you, right now I really don’t know.”

“But I know I’m in Avengers 4,” he continued. “I’ve shot most of it already. I do have two days of reshoots. But other than that, I have some really great scenes that I hope they use. But I guess that it remains to be seen what they’ll do with the characters.”
Bautista has been outspoken in his support of Gunn, who was in July fired by Disney after objectionable, years-old tweets made by the director resurfaced. Gunn had only recently submitted his draft for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which was expected to begin principal photography in January. However, it was reported last the week that the studio has placed the film on indefinite hiatus.
