IT: Chapter 2's Jessica Chastain Shares Image From First Day On Set

The horror genre is a renaissance right now, as new, exciting, and terrifying projects are brought to theaters. Horror has become increasingly mainstream with movies like Get Out and IT, with the latter currently gearing up to film its highly anticipated sequel. IT: Chapter 2 will bring back The Losers' Club as adults to battle Pennywise and hopefully save the children of Derry, Maine. One of the big names attached to the sequel is Jessica Chastain, who will be taking the mantle of Bev Marsh from breakout star Sophia Lillis. Chastain has just begun her work filming Chapter 2, and shared an awesome photo to get the fans hyped.
How cool is that? Jessica Chastain was the dream actress fans (and even the cast) had in mind to play Beverly, so excitement for her role is one of the biggest selling points for IT: Chapter 2.
This awesome new photo was originally from fan account Itmovie2019, run by an artist who renders images of the IT cast. One of these includes the meld of Sophia Lillis and Jessica Chastain. The latter actress liked it so much she posted herself on Instagram, signaling her excitement to get to work on the sequel. Bev is back, and she's going to be dealing with demons both literal and emotional.
IT: Chapter 2 is set a whopping 27 years after the events of the first film, where the various members of the Losers Club have mostly moved out of the state, and on with their lives. But when Pennywise once again returns to start devouring their hometown's children, the group must keep their vow and return to have one final conflict with the terrifying clown.
Jessica Chastain isn't the only big name attached to It: Chapter 2, although she will be playing the biggest fan favorite character of the group. James McAvoy is playing the adult version of protagonist Bill Denbrough, while SNL alum Bill Hader is taking on foul mouthed Richie Tozier, a grown version of Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard. Rounding out the cast is Jay Ryan, Old Spice commercial actor Isaiah Amir Mustafa, and Sinister's James Ransone.
The pressure is on for IT: Chapter 2 to deliver as much heart and terror as the first film. Luckily, the same team is returning for the highly anticipated sequel. Director Andy Muschietti is once again helming the Stephen King adaptation, while screenwriters Cary Fukunaga and Gary Dauberman are back to handle the script. Hopefully this will help Chapter 2 be a true continuation of the story, creating a cohesive set of films. Fingers crossed.
It: Chapter 2 will arrive in theaters on September 6, 2019, so there will be some waiting before any first footage of Jessica Chastain's Beverly arrives. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
