The last couple years have been great for Stephen King fans, as many of his most cherished works have been adapted for the big and small screens. Among the most notable of these projects is 2017’s IT, which earned a lot of positive reviews and made over $700 million off a $35 million budget.

We’re a little over a month away from the nearly three-hour sequel, IT: Chapter Two, from finally being released, but in case the trailers that have already come out aren’t enough for you, you’re in luck. Eight minutes of new IT: Chapter Two footage is being screened next month, and all you have to be willing to do is see IT in theaters again.

IT, retroactively referred to as IT: Chapter One, is returning to the big screen for two nights next month: Saturday, August 3, and Tuesday, August 6. Both of these screenings will have the eight-minute IT: Chapter Two preview attached as a post-credits scene.

For hardcore Stephen King fans, the opportunity to see IT again in a theater is surely enticing enough, but getting a brand-new look at IT: Chapter Two as a post-credits bonus is extra incentive to check out this event. Watching a movie in the comfort of your own home is one thing, but getting to re-watch something in a theater among people just as enthusiastic about the story as you are can be a special experience.

Because Stephen King’s original IT novel is such a massive tome, the story (previously adapted as a 1990 miniseries) was split into two parts for cinematic adaptation. The first IT movie followed the members of the Losers Club as adolescents crossing paths with the eponymous antagonist, which frequently disguises itself as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. While this portion of IT originally took place in 1958, the movie moved the action to 1988.

IT: Chapter Two picks up 27 years later and sees the now-adult protagonists returning to Derry, Maine for a final confrontation with Pennywise. Along with Bill Skarsgård reprising the terrifying clown, the sequel’s cast includes James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough, Jessica Chastain as Beverly Marsh, Bill Hader as Richie Tozier, Jay Ryan as Ben Hanscom, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon, James Ransone as Eddie Kasbrak and Andy Bean as Stan Uris. The kid actors from the first movie will also appear through flashbacks.

Behind the scenes, Andy Muschietti and Gary Dauberman both returned to direct and write IT: Chapter Two, respectively. Barbara Muschietti, Dan Lin and Roy Lee are attached as producers to the sequel, which will get a director’s cut.

Head over to Fandango to see if a theater near you will be hosting these special IT screenings. Whether you make it to one or not, you can look forward to IT: Chapter Two scaring its way to the silver screen on September 6. If you’re curious about what else is coming out later this year, look through our 2019 release schedule.
