How Paul Rudd Feels About Not Being In Avengers: Infinity War
26 minutes ago
Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Infinity War is a true star-studded blockbuster extravaganza within the Marvel Cinematic Universe- but some fans were as quick to point one who WASN'T in the movie as quickly as who was. Sadly, this short list includes Paull Rudd as Scott Lang a.k.a. Ant-Man -- and it turns out audiences weren't the only ones missing him in the action. As I learned from the actor himself recently, he had his own weird time screening the film earlier this year:
I was watching it thinking, 'Wow, there's this really great party going on, and I guess my invitation got lost in the mail.' FOMO - is that what [it's called]?... It's like, I know they're over there!
Ant-Man And The Wasp had its big domestic press day last weekend, and when I had the pleasure of sitting down with Paul Rudd on camera my very first question was about the 2018 blockbuster he's missing from. I noted that everyone expects him to show up next year in Avengers 4, but that I was still curious about his Avengers: Infinity War viewing experience given that he's not in the film. He laughed heartily and confirmed that it was a bit strange, using some modern slang for "Fear Of Missing Out" in his answer.
Of course, the real reason why Paul Rudd's Scott Lang isn't in Avengers: Infinity War is fully explained in the events of Peyton Reed's Ant-Man & The Wasp. Following the law-breaking action featured in Captain America: Civil War, Lang is put on house arrest, which means that he is taken totally out of the superhero game for two years. As such, when Thanos comes to threaten half of life in the universe, Scott is a touch busy.

While we were definitely all sad not to see Paul Rudd on the big screen in Marvel's most humungous blockbuster yet, the amazing thing is that we don't have to wait long at all to see the fan-favorite character back in theaters. Ant-Man And The Wasp, which has Rudd in a cast that also includes Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michael Pena, Hannah John-Kamen, Lawrence Fishburne and Michelle Pfeiffer, will be hitting cineplexes everywhere in the United States this Friday, July 6th. Be on the look out for both the movie and more from my interviews with the cast and crew here on CinemaBlend.
