Halloween Goes Behind the Iconic Mask in New Featurette
With the new Halloween a day away from its wide release, the latest featurette provides a behind-the-scenes look at recreating slasher Michael Myers’ iconic mask.
“The Michael Myers mask is so iconic, it was very important to be authentic and honorable to [John Carpenter’s] original Halloween,” explained director and co-writer David Gordon Green. “Let’s not put our spin on it, let’s recreate the mask.”

Drawing heavy visual influence from the original 1978 visage, the new incarnation of The Shape was then intentionally weathered to reflect the 40-year passage of time since the events of the first film.
“There’s something about the simplicity of the first mask that I think just makes it timeless,” admitted co-writer Danny McBride.

“The most important thing for it was to scare the shit out you,” declared original Halloween filmmaker John Carpenter.
Debuting on October 19, the latest Halloween is directed by David Gordon Green from a script written with Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley. The film stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak with Nick Castle and James Jude Courtney sharing the role of masked killer Michael Myers. The film is executive produced and scored by original filmmaker John Carpenter.
