Gareth Evans Says The Raid 3 Likely Isn’t Happening
A third The Raid movie isn’t looking very likely.
Despite previously discussing making another film in The Raid franchise, director/writer Gareth Evans has admitted he’s “not likely to go back and revisit it.” While there was room for more story to be explored with Iko Uwais’ lead character, Rama, Evans said he’s looking to tackle new material, though does admit he had a “full idea” for another storyline following the events of The Raid 2.
“The Raid 1 and 2 were incredible for me, but I just didn’t want to be doing The Raids all the time,” said Evans in an interview with /Film. “And the more time has gone on from that, the less interested I’ve been to go back there. We kinda close that off nicely, so it didn’t really appeal to me to jump back into that world again.”

Evans’ The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2 are widely praised by critics and fans for delivering jaw-dropping fight choreography and clever cinematography. While Evans’ remarks are undeniably disappointing for fans of the action-packed franchise, new work from the director is on the horizon. Apostle is soon heading to Netflix, and Evans is still rumored to (eventually) helm Deathstroke, which actor Joe Manganiello has assured is still in the works.
