Free PlayStation Plus Titles In July Include Heavy Rain

As Microsoft is gearing up to give their fans and loyal Xbox Live Gold subscribers a handful of free games for the month of July, Sony wasn't far behind in giving PlayStation Plus subscribers some news on what to expect from the July offerings for the six free PS Plus games. For the sweltering month of July, gamers who decide to spend their summer days cooped up inside will be able to enjoy some of Quantic Dream's dramatic storytelling with titles like Heavy Rain, which is one of the six free games available for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
The news was rolled out over on the PlayStation Blog, where the two highlighted games for the month of July are Absolver and Heavy Rain. However, PlayStation Plus subscribers get an extra treat in the form of half of July playing host to a free offering of Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, which has been free since this past year's E3, and will continue to be free as a pre-launch celebration for this year's upcoming release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which is due out later this year during the fall. The game will be free for PS Plus subscribers up until July 11th, so you'll likely want to get in on that deal while it's available early on in the month.
But you'll also have Heavy Rain to play as well, which features four playable characters as they hunt down a murderer known as the Origami Killer. The game plays out very similar to many of David Cage and Quantic Dream's other games, such as Indigo Prophecy and the recently released sci-fi drama, Detroit: Become Human.
Heavy Rain received some mixed to positive review scores, with some people citing the illogical nature of some of the story threads in the game, as well as the way the whole thing wrapped up. However, the game was generally given a lot of high marks for its technical achievements on the PS3 at the time. Quantic Dream later re-released Heavy Rain: Remastered for the PlayStation 4, giving eighth-gen gamers an opportunity to dive into the game.
The next big title on the list is Absolver, which is a martial-arts focused game that was designed by SloClap and published by Devolver Digital. The game originally came out last year in August for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The game mixes in PvE combat with PvP progression. Players start by creating their own martial arts character and selecting their character's fighting style. As the game progresses you're able to fight and defeat enemies who have skills you may not know and if you're successful you can learn those skills. Additionally, players who become strong enough are able to start their own schools and teach other players how to get strong.
As for PS3 and PS Vita gamers, there will be four extra titles to add to your PS Plus library, including the HD version of Rayman 3, featuring the lovable disembodied platforming hero from Ubisoft's long-running franchise.
In a more deviously deceptive category, there is Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess, which sees players devising exquisitely painful traps and attempting to create mega-combos by inflicting immeasurable pain on your foes.
The last two games include Space Overlords, and the adventure horror game, Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma, which is a beloved series from Aksys. You'll be able to dive into the PS Plus offerings starting this July.
