First Look at Live-Action Dora the Explorer Has Arrived
Back in October, it was announced that Transformers veteran Michael Bay would be producing a live-action film based on the Nick Jr. series Dora the Explorer. Now, the first photo of star Isabela Moner in full costume has surfaced.
The image features Moner sporting Dora’s classic hairdo, complete with the explorer’s trademark pink shirt and orange shorts.

Dora the Explorer is an animated show about an adventuring girl, who, together with her monkey Boots, her backpack Backpack and her cousin/adventuring partner Diego, travels the world and teaches kids Spanish. Dora is heavy on audience interaction, famously encouraging kids to call out to the screen. Debuting in 2000, the show ran for almost 200 episodes and has been a constant source of merchandising revenue for Nickelodeon.
Interestingly enough, Michael Bay’s name is not mentioned in Paramount Pictures’ latest press release for the film. Instead, the film will be produced by Christopher Robin producer Kristin Burr, who is joined by executive producer John G. Scotti (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, Alice Through the Looking Glass), as well as executive producers Julia Pistor (The Spiderwick Chronicles, A Series of Unfortunate Events) and Eugenio Derbez. Meanwhile, James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted) is signed on to direct.
Here is Paramount’s official synopsis for the film:
Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents nothing could prepare Dora for the most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego, and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.
Production on Dora the Explorer is currently underway, and the film has yet to receive a release date.
