Deadpool 2's Josh Brolin Thinks His Performance As Cable Could Have Been Better
1 minute ago
2018 is a big year for Josh Brolin. He's all over the big screen this summer thanks to roles in several major films and while he's generally being praised for his efforts, the actor thinks one of those parts could have been better. It sounds like when Josh Brolin started his work on Deadpool 2 he didn't feel entirely comfortable, which had a negative impact on his performance. However, things are better now, meaning he'd like to have another shot at bringing Cable to life. According to Brolin...
I do like the way it turned out. But I thought I could have been better. But then it clicked. I got to know (Reynolds) better. I trust him more. And we started this volley where it was like, 'This is actually fun.' Thank God. Man. I literally want to redeem myself to myself. I want to do a better version of what I do.
Josh Brolin doesn't go into detail about what his issues with his Deadpool 2 performance were beyond saying that he trusts Ryan Reynolds more now, implying that he had previously been less trusting. Eventually, the two warmed to each other and Brolin says he was able to have fun with the part. He tells USA Today that overall he likes how his performance as Cable turned out but just feels he could have done parts of it better.
The good news for him, and the rest of us too really, is that Josh Brolin is absolutely going to have a chance to redeem himself to himself. Brolin will be back to play Cable in the forthcoming X-Force movie. While we have no idea at this point when Brolin will be reprising his role, it is certainly coming.
Hey, if Josh Brolin can be an even better Cable in X-Force than he was in Deadpool 2, I'm all for it. He worked as a great foil for Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool in the story and was also a perfect straight man for the comedic aspects, and while the straight man role is often overlooked in comedy, it's vital and requires somebody with equally good comic timing to pull off well.
We'll also see Josh Brolin's other major role from this summer, Thanos, return with the follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers 4 next summer. You can also see him reprise his role from the hit film Sicario in its sequel, subtitled Day of the Soldado, which is hitting theaters this weekend, and that franchise has been planning a third entry as well. Josh Brolin is going to have plenty of chances to perfect his performances in the future as many of his roles are becoming quite popular.
