Dark Phoenix Trailer Gets 1990s Animated Remake
Following the release of the first Dark Phoenix trailer from 20th Century Fox, a fan has recreated the trailer using footage from X-Men: The Animated Series.
The video was created by YouTuber Darth Blender and uses audio and voice-overs from the Dark Phoenix trailer over visuals from the beloved ’90s cartoon. The creative team, which put out a Captain Marvel animated trailer last month, used Emma Frost in place of Jessica Chastain’s mysterious alien character, whom we know little about.

It remains to see who Jessica Chastain will ends up playing and what role she has in turning Jean (Sophie Turner) to the dark side and rebukes her heroic ways, although some speculation has her playing Cassandra Nova. Earlier this month, the release date of Dark Phoenix was pushed back to June 2019, with director Simon Kinberg citing a desire to make a bigger impact at China’s box office and to polish up the film’s special effects.
Written and directed by franchise veteran Simon Kinberg, Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters and Jessica Chastain. The film opens June 7, 2019.
