Dancing With The Stars' Beauty And The Beast Number Will Have You Rooting For Gaston
19 minutes ago
Tonight marked Disney Night on Dancing with the Stars and one number enchanted with an unexpected angle. When you think of the ABC dance competition taking on Beauty and the Beast, you may be thinking about the titular characters. What about Gaston? Well, he will have you rooting for him by the end of this number! See for yourself below:
Well, the villain of the story finally got his moment in the sun. That is an event,Gaston would likely find quite amusing! Fuller House's Juan Pablo Di Pace and his pro partner Cheryl Burke gave one heck of a performance. The choreography was wonderful. There were comic touches, and the pro dance ensemble helped bring energy to the vibrant number.
It is one of the most entertaining songs from The Beauty and the Beast soundtrack, and this interpretation was an absolute delight. The judges agreed. Juan Pablo and Cheryl's Viennese Waltz earned the duo a nearly perfect 29 out of 30.
Juan Pablo Di Pace's acting skills were in full force throughout the dance. One of the best things about Disney Night is seeing one of the stars play a definitive and well-known character. So, to see Di Pace excel in bringing such an iconic character to life proved highly entertaining.
The dancing on the table was impressive. For those of us who do not like the whole dancing on the judges' table thing, it was also a relief. To have the footwork and action take place on a raised surface at the center of the floor was the right move.
Cheryl Burke is one of the best choreographers on Dancing with the Stars, and this Beauty and the Beast number proved why. She knows what works. That chandelier swing was certainly incredibly epic.
Also worth noting with this number and the others was the impeccable costuming and set design. Dancing with the Stars never disappoints in this regard and Season 27's Disney Night was no exception. With a 29 out 30, Juan Pablo Di Pace remains one of the frontrunners for the mirrorball trophy. With dances as fantastic as his and Cheryl Burke's Beauty and the Beast number, that should continue to be the case.
Sometimes the selections are not as rich; Season 27's picks knocked it out of the park. All of this year's choices for Disney Night were terrific.
Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke's Beauty and the Beast number tied at the top of the leaderboard. Tying them was Alexis Ren and her pro partner Alan Bersten, who also scored a 29 out of 30. The duo tied for second with their Foxtrot to "Just Around the Riverbend" from Pocahontas.
All in all, a very magical night in the ballroom. Adding to the magic was that no one was eliminated! Thank you, Disney Night! New episodes of Dancing with the Stars Season 27 air Mondays starting at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. There are other new options to watch while you wait for the next dance.
