So far, 2018 has offered up some great horror movies that cater to a wide variety of audiences. There's the relatively-tame (by horror standards) PG-13 thriller style of John Krasinski's A Quiet Place, and then there's the decidedly darker edge of Ari Aster's Hereditary. However, now it looks like one of 2018's most intense horror films has yet to debut, as Luca Guadagnino's remake of Suspiria has officially received an R rating from the MPAA that promises nothing less than a visceral experience for a laundry list of terrifying reasons. Seemingly proud of the rating, the film's official Twitter profile released the list of reasons, which you can check out, below!

So, that pretty much promises everything that audiences have come to expect from something based on a Dario Argento film. Luca Guadagnino's remake of Suspiria will be violent, bloody, sexual, and feature some foul language, to top it all off. The original Suspiria has become widely regarded as a masterclass in horror filmmaking (particularly for the era in which it debuted), and this post of the newly-revealed rating suggests that the remake will do everything in its power to top that.

Of course, some of us already knew that Suspiria would offer up some truly terrifying, R-rated moments. Dakota Johnson has made no secret of the fact that this film has a lot of disturbing content waiting for audiences, as the Fifty Shades of Grey actress even admitted that working on it caused her to seek out therapy. Moreover, the footage --and spoilers-- shown at CinemaCon earlier this year teased some truly violent and visceral sequences, such as one scene in which a woman is torn apart by the movement of another dancer. Regardless of whatever else the film has in store, that scene alone pretty much guarantees an R rating.

If you want a hint at all of the hard R terror that's waiting in the frames of the Suspiria remake, then you can check out a trailer for the film, below.

Based on everything that we currently know about the film, it looks like Suspiria will primarily follow the narrative tentpoles of its predecessor. The film centers on Susie Bannion (Dakota Johnson), an American dancer who goes to study at a mysterious academy in Germany. However, things turn dark upon her arrival at the mysterious institution for the arts, as bodies start to pile up and a sinister, cultish force (hence "ritualistic violence") begins to rear its head.

The highly-anticipated remake of Suspiria will debut later this year on November 2, 2018. Make sure to check out Luca Guadagnino's horror film when it premieres, and check out our movie premiere guide to keep a close eye on all of the other films (horror or otherwise) on the horizon for this year.
