Captain Marvel: Clark Gregg Teases Coulson, Fury’s ‘Meet Cute Moment’
Nick Fury won’t be the only S.H.I.E.L.D. agent seen in their early days in next year’s Captain Marvel.
Clark Gregg is returning to reprise his role as Phil Coulson in the upcoming MCU film which takes place in the 90s. In addition to showing the agent’s first major super-powered assignment with the top-secret spy organization, the actor hints that it will also show the beginnings of his working relationship with future SHIELD director Nick Fury.

“He’s a relatively new S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who is obsessed with MC Hammer and dresses just like him, and it makes Director Fury so angry,” revealed Gregg in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “The genie pants don’t really go with the Armani.”
Similar to Samuel L. Jackson, Gregg’s character will be digitally de-aged by over 20 years to reflect the story taking place decades into the MCU’s past.

“There was something really special about going back to the early days when he was just kind of coming up the ranks,” admitted Gregg. “I had to take innocence workshops and go back to when he was a little less crusty and jaded!”
