Bautista Slams Disney, Calls Out Alt-Right Personality Who Got Gunn Fired

Ever since Disney cut ties with Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director James Gunn, there has been an outpouring of support for Gunn. However, no parties have perhaps shown their loyalty as well as Drax actor Dave Bautista, who has continually called out Disney for its decision to fire Gunn.

Now, a day after it was reported that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been put on hold indefinitely, Bautista has once again taken to social media to showcase his disgust over the matter. In a new tweet posted late Thursday evening, the actor retweeted a video of Mike Cernovich and his wife doxing a journalist and bragging about nearly getting them killed. Bautista made sure to tag the official Disney account in his tweet stating, “Here’s your guy!! What an inspiration to humanity!”

Gunn, of course, was famously fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after Cernovich uncovered a slew of nearly decade-old tweets in which Gunn made jokes about rape and pedophilia. Despite apologizing for said tweets, admitting that there was a time in which he sought to shock people with his sense of humor, the mouse house insisted Gunn’s tweets went against the company’s values and decided to cut business ties with him. Since the initial decision, Disney has been met with plenty of backlash, especially given that the company seemingly gave into someone like Cernovich.

Bautista, along with his fellow Guardians cast members, wrote an open letter to Disney in hopes of having Gunn reinstated as the director for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and for a bit, there seemed to be hope of that happening. Unfortunately, it was later revealed that Disney and Marvel decided to stand by the initial call and would instead go on to look for someone to take over directing duties — while still using Gunn’s script. With Marvel Studios seeking out a new director, the project has been temporarily pushed as to avoid rushing the final film of the proposed trilogy.

It remains to be seen what Bautista’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be after Avengers 4, however, he’s expected to at least return to fulfill his contractual obligations for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
