Batman Writer Scott Snyder Reacts to Joker Gotham City Map Easter Egg
With Joker actively filming in New York City, a number of set photos have been making their way online from the production. Among them is a subway map of Gotham City, which is full of nods to the Batman mythos and creators. Former Batman writer Scott Snyder has now responded to finding out there’s a nod to him on the map.
Snyder, who is currently writing Justice League, commented on the easter egg via Twitter, writing, “I’m sure it’s for Zack Snyder – BUT it’s a thrill to see even so.” However, after getting a closer look at the Burnside portion of the map, Snyder tweeted again. “There’s a 2nd smaller Snyder in Burnside I think – which straight up makes my month to see,” he said. “I’d have taken an alley, a pothole. Anything in Gotham, anytime anywhere is an honor.”
Haha. I'm sure it's for Zack Snyder – BUT it's a thrill to see even so! #jokermovie https://t.co/nJzqMEUmJa

“Snyder” appears on the map twice. The two references are likely to Scott Snyder and Zack Snyder, who directed 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
While areas like Burnside and Kane County both hint at potential greater connections to the DC Universe (Burnside being Barbara Gordon/Batgirl’s most recent base of operations and Kane County hinting at a connection to Kate Kane/Batwoman), many areas make reference to comics creators who have helped define Batman over the years.
