As part of its continuing Aquaman coverage, Entertainment Weekly has shared an shot of the sea dragons that will be ridden by the people of Xebel.
It is certainly a change from the giant seahorse that Aquaman rode in comics and on the animated Super Friends, which is precisely what the filmmakers were aiming for. “The idea was to turn on its head the idea of Aquaman riding a seahorse, take something for which he was mocked and turn it into something terrifying and impressive,” said producer Peter Safran.
Playing coy on whether Jason Momoa would ride one of these dragons, Safran teased, “He’s a Xebellian creature, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Arthur on one at some point.”

Considering the leader of the Xebellians is Dolph Lundgren’s King Neerus, and that Amber Head’s Mera is one of their warriors, audiences can likely expect to see both of them saddling up.
Aquaman will be at the center of Warner Bros.’ Hall H presentation on Saturday, alongside fellow DC films Shazam! and Wonder Woman 1984.
Arriving Dec. 21, director James Wan’s Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Black Manta and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, with Ludi Lin as Captain Murk and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry.
