Another Spider-Man Spinoff Movie Is In The Works Over At Sony
15 minutes ago
Sony is very much having its cake and eating it too when it comes to the Spider-Man mythology. In addition to teaming up with Marvel Studios on incorporating the Web-Slinger, his supporting cast and select members of his rogues gallery into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in recent years, Sony has also been working on a standalone Spider-Man-centric franchise, with Venom being the first entry of this creative endeavor. Over the last year, we've learned about other Spider-Man spinoffs that are being considered, and today brings word that the latest project in the works is centered around Cindy Moon, a.k.a. Silk.
According to Deadline, Sony and producer Amy Pascal are in early development on a Silk spinoff movie, but specific details are being kept under wraps. Created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, Cindy Moon was bitten by the same radioactive spider that bit Peter Parker. As a result, she gained similar arachnid-themed abilities as Peter, and while she's not as strong as Spider-Man, she is faster and her spider-sense (dubbed the "Silk Sense") is more powerful. Unlike Peter, who primarily relies on web-shooters, Silk can also shoot webbing out of her fingertips. This spinoff won't be the first time Cindy has been depicted on the big screen, as she was played by Tiffany Epensen in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War.
